Things Fall Apart-S/T
A young screamo outfit out of Columbus, OH. I saw them the other week at a house show impressed after hearing a pleasantly surprising initial recording. This isn't your run of the mill screamo band but rather something a little more interesting and experimental. In the instrumentality you hear traces of progressive/post rock. The post rock comparison isn't so much in what they're playing but rather in the tones they get. The progressive element sounds a lot like a nearly there Circa Survive Juturna vibe.  But they have time to get there, after all they've only been a band since October.Vocally the screamer reminds me a lot of The Saddest Landscape, the way sometimes he struggles to have the right amount of breath to finish the word, it's endearing and honest. But I would had liked to hear some singing/ harmonies to go along with of the prettier parts, but that's just me. Overall a very solid first EP. Looking forward to what they release if the new song "Virginia Wolf" is any indication of the direction they're going. Also excited to see them again with The Story So Far on March 7th.
